Our Mission:

Be the league of choice for young baseball players in the South Bay. Provide them the most fun, competitive, instructional and safe league around. Give the players the best baseball experience possible by striving to  have the top players, coaches, facilities and support. Help them to progress to the high school level and beyond.

Mira Costa PONY Baseball (MCPBL) is a competitive and  instructional league for players ages 4 through 14. We serve the cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, portions of Redondo Beach (North of 190th), Hawthorne, Lawndale and El Segundo. But there are no residence requirements for regular season play. MCPBL exists to provide boys and girls an opportunity to experience the game of baseball as close to the way it is played in the big league's. We play under the rules defined by the "Protect Our Nation’s Youth" (PONY) baseball organization. These rules are set up to progress the players to continually grow to the next level while safely learning the game of baseball.

Mira Costa Pony Baseball has proudly served the South Bay since 1983.
This is baseball like the Big leagues play. We have base stealing, pick offs and most rules are as Major League Baseball. This makes PONY baseball the league of choice for players that want to play and learn the full game from an early age. It is the best preparation there is to continuously progress the kids to the next level!

About Us

The Divisions, goals and seasons of play for each age group:

Please make sure you use the age your player will be 4/30/2010 as the age & division you register for!

Shetland, Ages 4/5/6. Play in the Spring season only- This level Focuses totally on instruction for beginning players.  Coaches pitch and if the players don’t get a hit then they use a Batting tee. This insures they get to hit the ball every time and also learn to run the bases.
For the Shetland division you can request to be on the same team as your friends and play together as a team.

Pinto, Ages 7/8. Play in the Spring season only- This level teaches the basic fundamentals of baseball. Players pitch after a 1/4 of the season with coaches pitching. Players must tryout prior to season to play. Tournament play is started for the Pintos.
At the Pinto level you can request to be on the same team as your friends and play together as a team. The league will still work to balance out the skill levels of each team in total to keep it competitive.

Mustang, Ages 9/10. We offer Play in Spring and Fall leagues- This level begins the players’ training in the complete game of baseball.  Leading off and base stealing become part of the game. Pitchers learn the stretch and how to hold runners on. Players must tryout prior to season to play. (Spring only). Tournament play is complete through World Series level.

Bronco

We offer Play in Spring and Fall leagues - This level Takes the developing young players into the full game of baseball, with  base stealing, pick offs and no limits on runs allowed.  It is just full baseball as it is meant to be played! Players must tryout prior to season to play. (Spring only). Tournament play is complete through World Series level.

Pony,

We our starting our 27th season. The league has many great people dedicated to working with the boys and girls of the league. We pride ourselves on having top coaches and support to help develop the great talent the league draws.
